VirtualDJ Virtual DJ software for PC
It is an audio mixing software developed by AtomixMP3 for home use. You can perform all the tasks that you could perform on a real external DJ. It is available for Windows, Linux and Mac. VirtualDJ is the successor of AtomixMP3, but the development of AtomixMP3 has stopped since VirtualDJ was launched. It is available in home edition free of cost, for commercial use you have to pay for and buy the PRO edition. VirtualDJ offers video mixing and scratching. There is a new feature introduced in VirtualDJ 6.x. named NetSearch. It allows users to access music and videos from internet. The media will stream directly in the application, and there is no need to download it. Grooveshark is the content provider for NetSearch since May 2010. In VirtualDJ 6, MusicGroups were also introduced. What MusicGroups do is that they collect track histories, and publish them on virtualdj.com. You can create your own group or join any group. It is like social networking of music, as you can comment or subscribe to any group. MusicGroups is also a track mixing adviser. You can broadcast your own mixed sets to the Internet by using the built-in RadioServer; RadioServer publishes a link and streams your music on that server on the link. You can also broadcast to a web radio that runs Shoutcast or Icecast servers. VirtualDJ web radio is running since 2005 and is known as VirtualDJ Radio. If we talk about its interface, it looks like a real DJ and it supports Vinyl emulation. Vinyl emulation allows the users to perform the real DJ things such as scratching, beat-match and you get tiny turntables on the interface, which gives you the real DJ feel. And you can do all this with a simple mouse and keyboard. VirtualDJ supports up to 99 decks, though you would never need them, 4 and 6 deck skins are preloaded. You can download VirtualDJ for Home Users from its home page. If you are not using it professionally, and do not use any professional equipment like a DJ controller, or a DJ mixer, then VirtualDJ is FREE. UPDATE: The free version of Virtual DJ does NOT have Web Broadcast capabilities, Mic Support or Vinyl emulation. Thanks Jim!
